Ongoing Projects

Some of the achievements of the Centre are:

1. Sociolinguistic Survey of Language Diversity and Language Use in Nigeria.
2. Review/Development of Nigerian Languages Curricula for Basic Education: Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Efik, Fulfude, Izon, Edo and Tiv.
3. Development of Curricula of other Nigerian Languages for Basic Education in collaboration with State Government / Language Associations: Isoko, Urhobo, Jukun and C'lela.
4. Development of Orthography of Po Tangle language.
5. Development of Orthographies of fourteen (14) Rivers State Languages: Abuan, Degema, Echie, Egbema, Egene, Ekpeye, Eleme, Gokana, Ibani, Kana, Ndoni, Odual, Ogba and Okrika languages.
6. Development of Bilingual Dictionaries in English and Nigerian Languages for Basic Education:
   • Hausa - English
   • Igbo - English
   • Yoruba - English
   • Efik - English
   • Tiv - English
7. Development of Meta-language for six Nigerian Languages: Izon, Efik, Fulfude, Tiv, Kanuri and Edo.
8. Basic Expressions for Tourists and Learners (English, French, Arabic, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba).
9. Translation and Printing of ECOWAS Reference Manual from English into Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba languages.
10. Translation of the National Pension Commission documents into Pidgin English.
