Major Achievements

  1. Development, printing and dissemination of the 9-year Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) to all public schools (with the support and collaboration of the Office of the Senior Special Assistance to the President on the Millennium Development Goals (OSSAP/MDGs) and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
  2. Development of Teachers Handbook for the implementation of the Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) at the Primary and Junior Secondary School levels.
  3. Development of BEC for learners with special needs (visually impaired).
  4. Development of 3000 sign language for implementing BEC for the hearing impaired.
  5. Preparation of Teachers Handbook for the Development of Instructional materials from Local Resources.
  6. Development of Teachers Handbook for the Selection and Use of Instructional Materials from Local Resources Training of Master Trainers on the 9-year BEC nationwide in collaboration with SMOES and SUBEBS.
  7. Development of Curricula for trades/entrepreneurship for out-of-school-youths.
  8. Revision and Upgrading of the Senior Secondary School Curriculum in all the 42 mainstream subjects based on the new curriculum structure.
  9. Printing and dissemination of the new SSS Curriculum to schools.
  10. Development of Curricula for 34 SSS Trade/Entrepreneurship subjects.
  11. Development of National Values Curriculum (NVC) in collaboration with Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
  12. Infusion of NVC into Senior Secondary School Curriculum in collaboration with ICPC Infusion of NVC into Teacher Education at NCE Level in collaboration with ICPC Infusion of NVC into Basic Education Curriculum in collaboration with ICPC.
  13. Development of Teachers Guide for the implementation of the new Senior Secondary Education Curriculum (SSEC) in two subjects, English and Civic Education.
  14. Training of out-of-school youths in Trade/Entrepreneurship in the South South geo-political Zone.
  15. Capacity Building Workshop for teachers on the Teaching of National Values in Basic Education in the 6 geo-political zones.
  16. Development of Road Safety Education Curriculum for Primary and Junior Secondary Schools with support from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
  17. Infusion of Road Safety Education into Primary and Junior Secondary School Curricula with support from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
  18. Development of Disaster Risk Reduction Curriculum with support from National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
  19. Infusion of Disaster Risk Reduction elements into Senior Secondary School Curriculum with support from National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), (Planning, writing and critique).
  20. Infusion of Food and Drug Safety Education into Basic Education Curriculum with support from National Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
  21. Development of Consumer Education Curriculum with support from Consumer Protection Council.
  22. Infusion of Consumer Education into Basic Education Curriculum with support from Consumer Protection Council.
  23. Revision and reduction of the Basic Education Curriculum into 10 subjects.
  24. Printing and dissemination of the revised Basic Education Curriculum, (Pry 1-3 and JSS 1-3) to public schools in Nigeria.
  25. Development of Teachers Guide for the implementation of the revised Basic Education Curriculum.
  26. Unbundling of the Reading Curriculum from the English Studies Curriculum in collaboration with USAID.
  27. Development of sample scripted lesson plans for the teaching of English Studies at the Primary and JSS Levels in collaboration with USAID.
