Head, Finance and Accounts Profile

Ogunsanya Semiu Afolarin was born on the 22nd May, 1965 in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He completed his primary education at the National Primary School, Abule Ijesha, Yaba-Lagos State in 1979 and, thereafter, proceeded to Gbagada Comprehensive High School, Gbagada, Lagos State where he obtained a General Certificate of Education in 1984.

He obtained his Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology, Lagos in 1992 and 1995 respectively. He also obtained a Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Accountancy from the Nigerian College of Accountancy in 2004. He is a Professional Accountant and a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria. He is also an Associate member of Nigerian Institute of Management and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He is a Registered Professional with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria as well as an Affiliate to ENS Forensic South Africa, Africa's largest Law firm.

He started his career with the British America Insurance Company Limited as an Underwriting Clerk in 1985. He joined the Continental Pharmaceuticals Limited in same 1985 as Production Clerk where he worked up till 1991 when he resigned and joined the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council as a Federal Staff. He has grown through the ranks and headed several units, sections and divisions in the Finance and Accounts department at both the headquarters and Zonal office.

He held positions such as Sectional head, Final Accounts; Head, Final Accounts; Head, Funds Unit; Head, Project Accounts; Head, Royalty Accounts; Head, Budget and Budgetary Control; Head, Finance and Accounts, Yobe State; Head, Zonal and Clients Services; Assistant Director, Finance and Accounts; Assistant Director, Budget Planning and Royalty and Deputy Director, Budget Planning and Royalty. He is currently the Head of Finance and Accounts Department in the Council. He has received several letters of commendation from the department and the Council due to his excellent approach to work. Ogunsanya has special interest in Final Accounts and Audits.

He enjoys sports such as Table Tennis and football. He also enjoys reading, writing and travelling.

He is married with children.
