Director Language Development Centre Profile

Dr. Nkechinyere Adiele is an educationist, linguist, and reading expert with decades of experience and specialised expertise in language and educational development. These covered areas of language planning and policy, curriculum development, reading and literacy, translation services, teacher capacity building, and development and documentation of Nigerian languages.

With an academic background that includes a PhD in English Language, Masters in Communication and Language Arts, Bachelor's degree in Linguistics/Igbo, Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and Graduate Certificate in Reading, Dr Adiele combines scholarly depth with practical leadership across key areas of education. Her work focuses on creating language-rich, culturally responsive, technology enhanced and inclusive learning environments. These factors and engagements promote literacy and practical skill learning, preserve indigenous languages, and strengthen national education systems.

Throughout her career, she has led and contributed to high-impact projects across curriculum reform, language extension, pedagogical training, and translation services. Her leadership has been central to national initiatives that advance inclusive and mother-tongue-based education, ensuring that policies and classroom practices reflect Nigeria’s linguistic diversity and educational needs.

Dr. Adiele has served as a project lead, curriculum development specialist, facilitator, and advisor on numerous government and institutional platforms. She has co-authored several curriculum-aligned textbooks and published research in both national and international journals. Her presentations at conferences and stakeholder forums have shaped conversations on education, language development, student -centered and competency based curriculum development and teacher capacity building.

She is an active member of key professional associations, including the Linguistic Association of Nigeria (LAN), Reading Association of Nigeria (RAN), Curriculum Organization of Nigeria (CON), Forum for African Women Educationalists Nigeria (FAWEN), and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

Passionate about educational transformation, Dr. Adiele remains committed to mentoring future educators and strengthening language education as a foundation for national development.
