Professor Abdul-Mumin Sa'ad was born on the 6th of June, 1956. He is a Professor of Sociology (Criminology) in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the University of Maiduguri, Borno State but currently on Leave of Absence as Provost at the Federal College of Education, Yola.

Professor Abdul-Mumin Sa'ad, who hails from Jalingo, Taraba State has in-depth knowledge in the following areas of interest thus; Criminology and Sociology of Law; Classical and Contemporary Theories in the Social Sciences; Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methodologies; Sociology of Education; Conflict Resolutions and Peace Building Studies; Social Psychology; Social Work and Administration, and; Disaster and Disaster Management Studies.

He is an astute scholar with professional qualifications viz; D. Phil. (Sociology of Law) Sussex Univ., England: (1989); M. Phil (Criminology), Cambridge Univ., England: (1984); B.Sc. (Sociology), A. B. U. Zaria, Nigeria: (1981); GC. Ed. (i.e., Graduate Certificate in Education), A. B. U. Zaria, Nigeria: (1981); Grade II Teacher Certificate, Teachers' College Yola, Nigeria: He held various positions in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in several Universities around the Northern part of the country, as well as taught in this Department where he has mastery of the Subject.

Prof. Abdul-Mumin has handled over 14 Research works; won over 10 Competitive Workshops and Conferences Awards; won about 4 Research Grants. He equally has his papers published in over 39 Journals [both Local and International], while about 38 papers are yet to be published.

Prof. Abdul-Mumin loves imparting knowledge and owing to this fact, he has delivered several lectures both Public and Special, and has participated in Academic Committees locally and internationally. Presently, he is a Member of Learned/Professional Societies like; Social Science Academy of Nigeria (SSAN), 1992 to date; Union for Africa Population Studies (UAPS), 1996 to date; 21st Century Trust, U. K., March, 1998 to Date; Criminological Society of South Africa (CRIMSA), 1999 to date; Nigerian Sociological and Anthropological Association, 2000 to Date; British Society of Criminology (BSC), June 2000 to date; International Sociological Association (ISA), September 2000 to date; African Sociological Association, (AFSA), July 2000 to date; Teachers' n Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), 14th March 2011 to Date.

His marriage is blessed with 4 wonderfully excelling children.
