It was with great shock but total submission to the will of the Almighty God that we received the sad news of the demise of Prof. Kate Nwufo (mni), an academic and senior colleague in the Nigerian Research and Development Council (NERDC). You will be greatly missed for the sterling qualities you exhibited in the service of the Council.
You joined the service of the NERDC in 1994 as a Deputy Director and later rose to the position of a Director and indeed, the most-Senior Director before your demise.
Your contributions in the field of Education especially Curriculum and Educational Research and Development were monumental and the country as a whole will, no doubt, miss such a rare gem! You were undoubtedly a well known figure in Curriculum Development and Educational Research.
Your dedication to work was very exemplary to the admiration of all your colleagues at the management level as well as the overall staff.
You proved your mettle as Fellow, Nigerian Academy of Education; Fellow, Curriculum Organization of Nigeria; and Chairman, Forum for African Women Educationist in Nigeria (FAWEN).
Your many Publications in National and International Journals, Books and Scholarly activities in the field are remarkably outstanding in the annals of scholarship in Nigeria.
Your devotion to God and family, as well as humaneness to friends and sundry during your sojourn on earth was of great admiration. You left an indelible impression, always ready to champion the cause of the less privileged and down-trodden. Our departed Professor, you always empathized with people and encouraged them in words and in kind.
We can testify to your disposition as being courageous, outspoken, industrious and generous. You had names for your close friends / associates such as “Okwu n’uka”; “Ajangbadi woman”; “Otondo”; “i gbal’uka” “Okirigbodo”; etc to name a few.
You shall be greatly missed by all.
Adieu Erudite Professor,
