Dr. Eric Adeche Darlington Apeji was born in the Serene town of Igarra in Edo state of Nigeria. He attended Naraguta Grammar School, Jos where he earned the West African School Certificate (WASC) examination in 1972. He also attended Victory College, Ikare in Ondo state where he passed the Higher School Certificate (HSC) examination in 1975.
He was a teacher at Irekari Grammar School, Idoani in Ondo State and Sadauna Memorial College, Kaduna.
His carrier in journalism started in 1976 when he was employed by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (Now Federal Radio Corporation) Kaduna as a News Reporter. He worked briefly with the former Bendel Broadcasting Service Benin - City as a Producer before joining the then Bendel Library Board. For many years thereafter, he freelanced as a journalist.
Eric Apeji attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Library and Information Science 1980. He had his post graduate education at the University of Ibadan culminating in his admission to the Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1995. In 2006, he graduated from the University of Abuja with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree. He had sundry professional and academic training in some institutions in the United Kingdom, Indonesia and other places.
His scholarship took him to among others, the University of Maiduguri and Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma where he was an Associate Professor. He is currently a Director of Research and Head, Curriculum Development Centre (CDC) of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), Abuja. He has also held positions in Government Parastatal Boards. He has travelled widely especially in pursuit of academic and professional advancement in notable countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
His research interests include educational Policy, Book Publishing, Entrepreneurship Education, Curriculum Development and intellectual property. He is listed in among others: Who's Who in Information Training Institutions in Africa and Who’s Who in Nigeria. He is a traditional Title holder.
